Features and Benefits
WaveTest Traffic Generator / Performance Analyzer
WaveTest - Designed for equipment manufacturers to accurately analyze the performance of their WLAN infrastructure products, as well as for carriers and enterprise users that want to make the right choice when selecting WLAN equipment for deployment in their networks.
WaveTest is a Wireless LAN and Ethernet performance test platform, capable of stress testing a complete WLAN network, including Access Points (APs) and WLAN Switches.
WaveTest provides simultaneous generation of traffic from thousands of 802.11 and Ethernet clients, with line speed analysis of the behavior of the system being tested.
- The WaveTest chassis contains up to 9 WaveBlades - independent traffic generators / performance analyzers
- WaveBlade WiFi supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g client traffic generation, while WaveBlade Ethernet supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/draft n traffic generation
- Each WaveBlade card generates up to 500 stateful WLAN or 1,000 Ethernet clients across single or multiple subnets
- Unprecedented network scale can be achieved by daisy-chaining up to six WaveTest 90 chassis for a total of 27,000 stateful clients
- Generate and analyze traffic between WLAN clients and Ethernet clients/servers, or mobile WLAN clients
- Gigabit Ethernet traffic generation and analysis at full wire-speed
- Multiple traffic flows per client are supported, with each flow offering traffic at Layers 2,3 and 4
- Real-time port statistics, per flow statistics, packet filters, triggers and capture capabilities for precise analysis
- Each WaveBlade contains a traffic scheduler that offers fully interleaved traffic flows, behaving as real mobile clients contending for the shared medium
- Client behavior is individually controlled providing accurate control of 802.11, 802.3, and IP characteristics, including power, medium access control, authentication and encryption, frame size and rate

Ease of use
Responding to the unique demands of developers, QA test departments, pre-deployment labs, and competitive marketing labs, WaveTestoffers three fully-integrated use-models:
- WaveManager - this user interface offers comprehensive and interactive control of multiple chassis and test ports - providing WLAN mobile-client, as well as Ethernet, traffic generation and analysis, all from a single, easy-to-use dashboard
- VCL (VeriWave Command Library) - Programmatic control, test configuration, statistics, and reporting functions are supported via this common library that is accessible via Tcl, Perl, and Python.
- Automated tests address specific applications that require automation and regression, such as roaming, performance benchmarking, VoIP over WLAN, and security
- Configuration data, test control, and results are all seamlessly transferable between all use models. VCL command scripts can be generated automatically in Tcl, Perl, or Python from existing hardware or user configurations
- Test results are collected and displayed using an extensive set of predefined counters, user-defined counters, triggers and filters, as well as a 100 MB capture per WaveBlade
- WiMix a fully populated environment for swift and easy testing for hotspots, hospitals, airports, warehouses and more
- WaveClient - Utilizes the air-rate traffic generation and analysis capabilities of VeriWaves WiFi WaveBlade, and the line-rate traffic generation capabilities of VeriWaves Ethernet WaveBlade. Both blades offer the unique ability to create real-world network conditions in the lab and test the wireless enabled devices in the same conditions they will experience once deployed, all while maintaining complete control of the environment. Through packet-by-packet un-filtered traffic capture, abnormal client behavior can easily be detected, what-if scenarios can be created and tests repeated in an automated fashion to determine long-term stability of the device being tested.
