Active testing provides rapid identification and localization of service and network issues at all points—from the core to the edge—ensuring the highest quality of service to your subscribers.

Active Assurance addresses some of these challenges with its ability to emulate end-subscriber services, making it an ideal solution for Network Operators to predict with confidence their customer’s Quality of Experience whether they are on their network, traversing a peering partner’s network, or in a hybrid (fixed and mobile) network which they may or may not control.

Active Assurance offers a variety of test solutions to emulate end-subscriber voice & data services and complements Tektronix Communications’ market-leading network monitoring systems for the VoIP, PSTN, and Mobile Operators. The Active Assurance test solutions give these Service Providers a chance to uncover issues, whether they are turning up a new service, troubleshooting a network fault, validating configuration changes and network routes, or simply proactively uncovering issues before their subscribers call to complain. This is done all in an automated fashion with the intent of understanding real subscriber-experience while giving them the luxury of saving on time and OpEx that result in improving Customer Satisfaction (CSAT).

Tektronix Active Assurance Test Component and LayoutMost people think active testing means “probes calling other probes”, but this is just one type of test AA does Responders & Loopback testing are cost effective ways to test to the customer premise / access locations Single-Ended testing is unique to AA: calls public destinations like fax machines, modems and IVRs to provide measurements like PDD, ASR, NER.  

If the IVR “talks” for at least 8 seconds, the probes can provide MOS measurements Interactive testing = Zoey.  Instead of probes launching calls, it’s the subscriber calling into the probe.  Zoey is a self-diagnostic IVR that tests Caller ID, Speech Quality, Echo & Noise, and DTMF transmission
